The carriage started going downhill, towards the magnificent sight of the tents.

The man who wore a pitch black shirt and held a lantern continued to walk in front. His steps were light and swift, giving people the impression there was mercury flowing in his body.

Furthermore, although he was moving at a normal person’s sprinting speed, he did not seem to be exhausted at all, continuing to smile whilst explaining the rules of the entrance trials to Lin Xi and the old man.

“The carriage and the others are not allowed to advance further. You can find a place close by to rest and wait for the results tomorrow. As for you…” the youth stuck out a finger and pointed at the lake, “You can find a empty tent to rest in, or chat with the other participants. The rules for each tent is the same, there will be free flow for food and drink, you just have to listen to the arrangements of the lecturer tomorrow.”

“Lecturer?” Lin Xi’s mouth instantly became an “O” shape.

“What?” surprised and curious, the youth looked at Lin Xi who had an strange expression.

“Nothing much, I just feel that this form of address is strange.” Lin Xi forcefully stopped himself from spurting out the “nonsense”, diverting the topic, “Brother Xia, you did not know my name before, will the lecturer tomorrow know my name and call me?”

“It seems that you don’t have much understanding of our Academy, so it’s normal that you find it strange.”

The youth looked like he had a sudden realisation and smiled, saying: “Before every participant arrives, the various places would have sent the information to the academy, so you don’t have to worry that you will get ignored tomorrow.”

“Brother Xia, are you a student of the Qingluan Academy?” Lin Xi looked at this youth known as Xia Yanbing, seriously asking:”I have zero knowledge about the trials of Qingluan Academy. Can you tell me what topics they will test us on?”

“I am also currently a lecturer in Qingluan Academy.” Xia Yanbing gently smiled, saying: “As for the details of the test, I am not sure since the topics are different every year. All I know is that it will be absolutely fair. Our Qingluan Academy is looking for two aspects of students—their talents and their character. As for the details, I can’t say much.”

“Brother Xia, you are already a lecturer?” Not only Lin Xi, but even the old man had looks of astonishment on their faces.

“It’s not much.” Xia Yanbing slightly smiled, turning over and ending the conversation. But his casual mention of this just made him seem more extraordinary and special.

***********

At a spacious area 5 Li away from the campfires, thousands of carriages were gathered, making this a magnificent sight.

The forbidden area for carriages, was just ahead, near the stone pillar, so Lin Xi had just prepared to get down the carriage and walk to the tents.

But at this moment, a carriage with four blood red, muscular horses carrying it arrived from another path, as if it was very familiar with the geography of the lake since there was no one from Qingluan Academy guiding it.

It tyrannically cut in front of Lin Xi’s car, sending a golden robed youth in front of the stone pillar.

This youth looked younger than Lin Xi by one or two years, being shorter than him by half a head.

He had white skin, but looked at Lin Xi with contempt and arrogance.

He jumped off the carriage full of brass ornaments, which looked gorgeous and heavy. The driver was a burly middle aged man who wore a green suit.

After letting the youth alight, he drove straight to Lin Xi’s carriage and arrogantly raised his head.

He actually wanted the old man to move aside to let him go to the vacant lot where thousands of carriages gathered.

The carriage ahead was domineering.

Xia Yanbing, who had reached the destination and was about to leave could not help but have a cold glint in his eyes, but looking at the old man in front of Lin Xi, his gaze calmed down and made way, looking on with folded arms.

The old man stopped his car, but he did not make way.

He only sat on the carriage quietly, not even looking at the burly man who was arriving in front of them.

The burly man narrowed his eyes slightly.

He never thought the dirty old man who drove a broken carriage would not give him face.

The four blood red horses which had almost crashed into the two grey horses on Lin Xi’s carriage abruptly stopped.

Both carriages came to a standstill as neither seemed to give in.

Both carriages arrived late, so this conflict instantly attracted the attention of the thousand carriages which gathered and the attention of the participants.

The younger a person was, the more likely they would like to be in lively places and join in the fun.

There was no movement where the thousand plus carriages had gathered, but batches of youth were rushing out of the tents.

“He looked like an important figure, I never thought he would be so dumb.” In the crowd near the tents, a tall girl with a ponytail looked the conflict and mumbled, looking at the ferocious golden robed youth with contempt.

This girl wore a normal green top.

Just looking at her features alone, they wouldn’t be considered very beautiful.

But as a whole, it gave her an elegant and beautiful feel.

“It looks like he’s just a country bumpkin who recently built up a family fortune. If I were him, I would definitely not be stupid enough to provoke that carriage.” At another place, a dark-skinned youth who ware a robe of thin silk was very conspicuous.

His dark hair was brushed very neatly, using a jade accessory to hold it together.

He had the natural noble aura of aura of a leader, having 5-6 youths at his side.

These youths had precious jade accessories around their waists and were wearing luxurious clothes.

With just one look, one could tell that they were either rich or of noble status.

“Why do you say that, Brother Li?” At his side, a round faced youth wearing silk clothes asked, being unable to understand what he meant.

Just the four blood red horses alone was higher than the two grey horses of the other carriage.

Furthermore, the middle-aged carriage driver had a body full of explosive strength.

No matter what aspect one looked at, there could be no comparison between the old and broken carriage which the dim-eyed old man drove and the large and majestic bronze plated carriage.

“Although the carriage is broken, but the curtains are made with the ink of the Black Vined Flower and the Hallucinatory Spirit Rabbit. This is the Favourite method of the desolate borders near the Dragon Snake Mountain. It is well ventilated while keeping off the cold, and it is water resistant, not to mention it is not degradable.” The Li surnamed dark skinned man who looked extraordinary sneered: “These two grey horses belong to the desolate borders. They look inconspicuous, yet they have the strongest stamina, being able to move a thousand Li in one night. (One Li is 500metres.) Currently, they are exhausted to this stage…. This carriage might have rushed here from the desolate borders near the Dragon Snake Mountain. And you should think about it, when we arrived, there was no one to specially guide us from Qingluan Academy. They came to give instructions only when we arrived.”

The surrounding youths instantly trembled in terror, :”So, you mean… this broken carriage was recommended here by a person of high status at the desolate borders?”

“It looks like he has some experience, but when you are too conspicuous, saying others lack experience, calling them a mere country bumpkin that gained power recently, you would have insulted many others, offending countless people just because of one sentence.” Nearby, a skinny youth who wore a yellow robe looked coldly at him, sneering in his heart.

In these thousand youths, there were many talented youths who were proud of themselves.

“You are really not going to give way?” The burly middle aged man who was driving the carriage did no have the foresight of the youths.

He completely did not expect that the carriage in front of him did not give in at all.

His face instantly darkened, ferociously spitting out this sentence.

“They probably won’t start a quarrel.” Most of the youths who wanted to watch the commotion looked at Xia Yanbing who stood beside the two carriages feeling disappointed, thinking this in their heart.

What blew their minds was that Xia Yanbing had totally removed himself from the conflict and was looking at the commotion from afar.

“Scram.” what blew their minds even more was that the old man sitting on the carriage simply spoke a word.

“He’s literally courting death!”

The person who shouted this was the golden-robed youth who had a childish voice. He initially alighted from the carriage, but looking at his driver’s plight, his childish face revealed a ferocious and cruel expression.

“Scram aside!”

As if the burly middle aged man heard the command to strike, he took out a black snakeskin horsewhip and whipped it at the old man with a crackle.

But at this instant, the sickly old man who looked tired jumped at the burly man like a hawk suddenly.

The thick snakeskin horsewhip was like a patch of dark clouds, hovering over his head. In everyones gazes of astonishment, this exhausted old man revealed a terrifying aura of bloodshed, giving a punch to the burly man’s nose.

The instant the fist made contact with his nose, a bright light covered both the fist and the burly man’s face.

*KA!*

The old man’s body merely shook as he hopped back into the carriage, but the burly man’s whole nose became crooked, having an expression of disbelief and shock as he flew away and fell on the ground with a thud tragically.

The two horses which looked extremely exhausted also spit out a breath as it gave out a deep sound.

At their opposite, the four previously arrogant horses were shocked as they pulled the carriage and dashed away in panic.

The golden robed youth that was domineering and was acting ferociously previously looked like he lost his soul. His face was pale like a sheet.
